Every client has different objectives and goals, whether it be timber harvesting, conservation or restoration, Greenleaf Forestry consultants have the experience. Experts in detailed woodland management plans and mapping that will look at every aspect of your woodland.
We specialise in creating detailed Forestry Commission approved Woodland Management Plans, Tree Health grant applications and woodland infrastructure improvement design.
The usual starting point in our client relationship will be to meet them on the ground in their woodland and create a vision. If there is no active Woodland Management Plan (WMP) in place, we would usually advice one to be created. There is a healthy grant that will (in most cases) cover a large proportion of the costs to carry out a WMP. This plan lasts 10 years and will provide the client with felling licences for the length of the plan. The WMP will outline species, volumes, habitats constraints and will provide detailed maps. From this plan we can feed back timber volume estimates into a draft annual budget, showing predicted timber income.
After an approved WMP is in place there is the option for additional funding via Countryside Stewardship grants that pay annually based on the woodland area to help improve the woodland.
Whether you are looking for a native broadleaf woodland or a high yielding, productive plantation, we have the solutions and experience. Greenleaf Forestry consultants will listen and discuss the available options and are able to create woodland management plans and designs to encompass your vision within funding parameters.
There are many funding options at present, from Countryside Stewardship Woodland Creation, Forestry Commission Woodland Carbon Fund and smaller NGO led grants. With vast experience in applications and implementation of tree planting projects we can talk through the best options.

With several organisations in the UK offering funding for forestry and woodland creation, we are here to help guide you through the process. Our forestry consultants are experts in grant & funding availability, from Countryside Stewardship to carbon credits, we are here to assist.
At Greenleaf Forestry we understand that a woodlands viability is based on three key factors:
Social, Environmental and Economic.
Woodland management relies on getting the three key factors in balance. To ensure this we work closely with our clients to discuss and create detailed budgets. By measuring the standing timber in a woodland (mensuration) we can estimate the annual timber returns. We can then factor in potential grant income and any fund limitations to create sound annual budgets.
From tree health surveys to pre work site assessments and method statements, our forestry consultants are here to help and advise on all matters relating to forestry, arboriculture and woodland risk management.
Due to the rise in tree pests & diseases and climate change there is a focus on ensuring roadside, public rights of way and properties are surveyed to abate the risk from falling trees. We offer risk zoning consultations and advise on regularity of surveys to be carried out in accordance with the industry standards and up to date case law. We quote on an individual site basis and will offer reminder updates free of charge when the next survey is due. Please contact us to discuss.
